| Ancient city of sigiriya is the best preserved city in Asia, with its combination with its buildings and gardens with their trees, pathways, and water gardens. This city displays architectural tradition very well. Sigiriya Sri Lanka is a palace in central Sri Lanka which takes it name from giriya (‘jaws and throat’) and sinha (‘lion’). The city contains the ruins of an ancient royal fortress and city founded in the fifth century AD by King Kasyapa. The city is 3 kilometers wide and 1 kilometer long, standing on a steep, large rock, known as Lion Mountain. This magnificent site also features a chain of water gardens, trees and pathways, laid out according to an ‘echo plan’, with the two sides reflecting one another in a symmetrical design. Ancient city of sigiriya is also renowned for its fifth-century rock paintings. |

| Sigiriya Sri Lanka is an important Buddhist site in central Sri Lanka, about 100 miles northeast of Colombo. For history lovers there is in fact no better attraction in the world as Sigiriya was once the site of a magnificent city and a great site of the 5th century ruins. Along with the fact that it lies on a plain that rises some 180 meters above the surrounding land, the ruins of Ancient city of sigiriya are amazing in their portrayal of symmetry and design.
